Voicing: SSATB with rhythm section (optional SATB version)
As recorded by New York Voices (“What’s Inside” – 1993, GRP), this is an old NYV brazilian jazz favorite . . . Darmon wrote the music and Lauren wrote the lyrics. This song features a mellow alto lead, with substantive ensemble sections. The vamp out allows for some call and response with the audience, and can also be used as an improvisational vamp.
Note: This arrangement is also available through UNC JazzPress. However, the NYV Music version is notated a bit more clearly.
Sop: F2 – Db4
Alto: F2 – C4
