As recorded by New York Voices (“A Day Like This” – 2010, MCG Jazz), this jazz waltz works well with rhythm section accompaniment, but really comes to life with the additional six horn or full big band orchestration. The SATB voicings are mostly in a traditional 4-way close style, and include a written four-part scat soli which will give your group a good workout. The chart contains a reasonable amount of hip voicings, and a full chorus of solo space, suitable for either instrumental or scat solos. This arrangement is approachable by most medium to advanced level ensembles.
