As recorded by New York Voices (“NYV Sing the Songs of Paul Simon” – 1997, RCA Victor), this arrangement is for SATB vocals with acoustic bass accompaniment. Though bluesy in nature, this arrangement includes very challenging harmonies, requiring very strong male singers (lots of tri-tone relationships between the tenor and bass parts!). The lead part is written for tenor voice, and there is also an open scat solo. After a “mini-shout chorus,” the arrangement finishes with a vamp, reminiscent of Simon’s original recording. This is a challenging but fun arrangement for a mature ensemble.
